Off The Grid MTB evolved through a love of cycling and nearly 30 years of cycling very much within my comfort zone. A few years ago I started to expand my horizons and explore more challenging ways to ride my bike, moving away from my comfort zone..
I have recently relocated to the Aviemore area but I will still provide biking experiences throughout Scotland.
I commenced the British Cycling coaching pathway 9 years ago. This has involved coaching all ages at all levels and in all disciplines of cycling. This has been very rewarding experience! I have completed several courses, which have given me the tools to evaluate my own cycling abilities and how to improve them.
I find coaching a very rewarding experience. I coach because I enjoy observing riders of varying levels of ability progress through a session, improving their skills and concluding with a smile on their face. My goal is to ensure riders I coach have a clear understanding of what they have achieved, are able to recognise good technique and be able to implement what they have learned on the trails..
I now want to offer my cycling experience in a structured coaching style so that others can take advantage of the possibilities that are out there. Whether you want to try mountain biking for the first time or improve your skills and experience what a trail centre (Glentress, Comrie Croft, etc.) has to offer, all options can be accommodated. If, however, you desire a more adventurous experience and want to go Off the Grid and explore more natural and extreme trails (the 'Golfie' at Innerleithen) or undertake an epic trip (Torridon, Cairngorm, etc.) it is all possible with a wee bit of coaching and a sense of adventure.
Maybe you are already at a level you are happy with and just want a hassle free guided trip away - this can also be accommodated. We are receptive to our riders needs and will have realistic approach to any expectations for a trip. The Scottish weather can make or break a trip but there's always plan A two or A three ........ we do not believe in plan B's as there is never a bad day on a bike - we just adapt the rides to bring the best out of a day resulting in the same amount of smiles.
We are continuing to coach youths on a regular bases at a local bike club and are currently assisting schools with Bike Ability, Mountain Bike Duke of Edinburgh Award Schemes, Expeditions and multi day trips for youths to the Cairngorms..
